The manor was in the ownership of Captain and Court Counsellor August Fellman and his family until the year 1919, when the town of Lahti gained possession of the manor. The town has used the main building to a variety of purposes. It has hosted schools and has been part of a military hospital during the war. In the mid 1960s Lahti historical museum became its new master.
The purpose of the Historical Museum is to collect, document, research, exhibit and publish historical, cultural-historical and ethnological material and oral tradition in its own area. The museum operates as the provincial museum of the Päijät-Häme region.
The Historical Museum is closed for renovations during the period 4.4. - 2.12.2011
The museum was founded in 1924 and it is a department of the Lahti City Museum. The Lahti Historical Museum has been open to the public in Lahti manor since 1968. On the ground floor are halls for temporary exhibitions and the scale models of Lahti in the years 1877, 1914 and 1939. The Museum Shop is also on the ground floor. On the first floor is The Klaus Holma Memorial Collection. The second floor is reserved for exhibiting the museum´s own collections.

The special features of the church include two aisles, star vaults with embossed ring ornaments and wooden carvings of historical importance. Entry to the church is through an Empire-style bell tower designed by C.L. Engel. The decoration of the west gable is among the most beautiful in Finland.
