Sibelius Hall
Concert and congress centre Sibelius Hall in Lahti

The building with cultural and historical value presents works of artist Soile Yli-Mäyry. The oldest ones have been made more than twenty years ago. Yli-Mäyry uses colours in three different ways: as thin layers, as thick slashes and by scratching already painted surfaces to make the piece seem three-dimensional. The main theme in Yli-Mäyry’s paintings is humanity and the fact that urban people are estranged from the nature. Open on Sundays from noon to 5 pm.
The special features of the church include two aisles, star vaults with embossed ring ornaments and wooden carvings of historical importance. Entry to the church is through an Empire-style bell tower designed by C.L. Engel. The decoration of the west gable is among the most beautiful in Finland.
